Goodyear High School is a 59-acre, state-of-the-art campus designed to inspire students in academics, arts, and athletics. With six modern buildings, the campus features dynamic classrooms, creative 2D and 3D art studios, a 490-seat auditorium, a professional-grade TV and film studio, a hands-on robotics lab, and labs for medical assisting and science. Students exploring career paths will find a dedicated center for Career & Technical Education, including life skills spaces and immersive labs. Athletes can train in top-notch gym facilities with multiple courts, a cheer and dance studio, and a fully equipped sports medicine lab. Two separate field houses support football, soccer, baseball, and softball with locker rooms, restrooms, and concessions. At Goodyear High, students are encouraged to Be Inspired, Stay Invested as they shape their futures — because there is only one first, and this is where it begins.
Goodyear High School’s classroom pods support the academy learning model by promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration. Each pod includes four classrooms surrounding a central office, with two additional collaboration rooms for flexible student-teacher interaction. The design encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and career readiness — aligning with the school’s mission to prepare students for college and beyond.
With 490 retractable seats, the space is designed to accommodate a wide variety of events — from dinner theater and student assemblies to award ceremonies and instructional activities. Centrally located among the arts classrooms and adjacent to the cafeteria, it provides an ideal setting for performances and community engagement, with convenient access for pre-show and intermission gatherings.
During the design phase, ADM Group, Chasse Building Team, and AFHSD staff visited multiple campuses across Arizona and California to gather inspiration and identify best practices. One standout feature from these tours — a tiered lecture hall — quickly became a must-have. Designed for versatility, the lecture hall serves both as a dynamic instructional space and a venue for community meetings. Strategically positioned at the front of the school, it offers convenient access for visitors and is ideal for hosting after-hours events.
The cafeteria was designed to offer flexible seating options for students while accommodating various events. Booths are fixed along one wall, while movable low and high-top tables can be reconfigured or stored nearby. School colors and the mascot are prominently featured on ceilings, walls, and tabletops to showcase school spirit.
Goodyear High School’s new football field sets a new standard for high school athletics, combining performance, safety, and game-day energy. The NFL-quality turf offers a durable, natural-grass feel built for heavy use. A dynamic-colored lighting system adds excitement, turning games into full-scale events with immersive intros and celebrations. Adjacent to the main field, a mini field supports cheer, flag line, and marching band practice and provides a safe space for families during games.
Early planning revealed the media center needed to be more than just a place for books. The design evolved into a dynamic space with areas for reading, collaboration, making, and presenting. Key features include a learning stair, collaboration rooms, a maker space, and a sunken living room with a raised corner for performances and presentations.
The open-air courtyard is the campus centerpiece, enhancing visibility and connection between buildings. Entry pergolas lead to shaded seating areas for informal meetings, study, or relaxation. The space also features a basketball court and a shaded amphitheater for outdoor learning. At the east end, the centrally located auditorium/cafeteria anchors the courtyard, serving as a social and functional hub easily accessible from all classrooms.
